CPP also strengthens the social sector by providing support to nongovernmental organizations and community based organizations. This Civil Society Initiatives (CSI) provides NGOs and CBOs with resources to mitigate important social problems.

Within CSI CPP uses transparent grant selection processes to identify NGO and community groups for the implementation of civil society development projects aimed to: 1) To provide support to social services which impact the health of civil society; and, 2) To give skills and experience to NGOs to assist them in their development. Collaborative partnerships are developed with other NGOs or agencies with proven expertise in democracy-themed topics.
